Efflorescence is the white, crystalline or powdery deposit that sometimes appears on the surface of precast concrete. While it can be a cosmetic concern, it is generally harmless.
What causes it?
Water-soluble salts migrate to the surface as moisture evaporates, leaving a visible deposit.
How to manage it
Light efflorescence often weathers away naturally, or can be removed with a stiff brush and clean water. At Mohan's Precast, our mix designs minimize efflorescence from the start.
